What's the best desktop PC for gaming?

What's the best desktop PC for gaming?

Depends if you want to walk homebrew or "off the shelf". I've no idea what the conversion rate is for Australian dollars (or is that Canadian dollars?), but I'm guessing $500 is "cheap"?

For a eyeshade you'll want something with a swiftly response time - around 4ms is good. It may be that only the screen alone blows your $500 ;-)

For gaming, you'll want to pump the most money into the graphics card. Go for a 256Mb Nvidia 7700 as a minimum.

AMD processors tender the best bang-for-bucks.

You'll want at least 1 GB of RAM, a nice SATA concrete disk drive, a decent sized tricky mouse mat, and a gaming mouse.
Sorry, for real gaming you would obligation to spend at least twice that much and even more. For $500.00 doesn`t matter what you can get wont be considered a gaming piece of equipment. It will play games, but not at a great level.
At this website they enjoy this cool page where you convey them how much you want to spend on a computer and they will tell you what option you have to choose from. Try it out.
