Nah, your computer is fine. The mistake lies with XP and the process it handles standy and hibernate modes.

There are possible solutions to the problem, but to be impeccably frank they are more trouble than its worth. Your best bet is to simply disable the standby feature and basically let the computer run, and turn past its sell-by date the monitor when you're not using it. The computer doesnt use that much power, and your life will be that much simpler.
Is it surrounded by standby or hibernation?
Go to your desktop, Right click on any open space on your desktop minus icons, and click "Properties".

Then click the "Screen Saver" tab and click "Power".

Then Select "Never" for System Standby and move about to the "Hibernate" tab.

Uncheck the "Enable Hiberate" box and click okay for everything afterwards.

It should solve the problem.
Set it as always on, so dat it won't run 2 stand by mode. den shut down if nt using. Cheers man it's won't die so young:)
